We cut our practices back during your school lacrosse season because we know that you have practice and game commitments for your school team. Practices for year-round teams during this time are always on the weekends and are only once or twice a month.
Thunderbird is well known for its commitment to our athletes. We evince this level of commitment through our level of communication to our players and their families. We communicate primarily through email. When you register, please make sure you enter e-mail addresses for you (the ATHLETE) as well as for your PARENTS so that everyone can receive updates. This is VERY important when we travel to tournaments, because field times and schedules often change when we get there. Please make sure you check your email daily during the season.
We will also use text alerts, and updates to our website on a daily basis. Our goal is to keep you and your family informed during the season.
Our commitment to you, as an athlete, is unmatched by any other club. Our goal is to elevate your game, help you define and reach your goals, and develop your ability to succeed both on and off the field. We are not connected to any one school, so we have no underlying self-interest. Our experienced coaches are all either US Lacrosse-certified coaches and/or have played lacrosse at the college level -- we are well prepared to show you what you need to get to the top. And when you are ready, we will help you navigate your college recruiting process, helping you find the best academic, athletic, and social fit for you.
We know that having practices close to home is very important to you, so it is very important to us. We make every effort to offer practices in Gwinnett, North Fulton, Dekalb, and Cobb ... our relationships with many schools and parks allow us to use fields in various locations. Because other sports also use these fields, most times we have to wait until we get closer to the practice season before we are able to contract these fields, and we always announce the practice locations as soon as we can.
We usually select a team hotel that offers us a block of available rooms at a team rate, and we communicate that to you as soon as we can so you can make your reservations. This allows us to have not only discounted rooms, but a central place to gather to have a meeting or to relax. Depending on the hotel, sometimes breakfast is included in the rate, but sometimes it’s not. Some families choose to stay at other nearby hotels, and that’s fine too.
You and your parents travel on your own to tournaments. Sometimes families coordinate to carpool together or to have an athlete travel with another family. We don't allow players to travel unaccompanied by an adult.
